How to Care for Printed Streetwear

October 02, 2026

A favorite graphic tee or hoodie often becomes part of your everyday rotation. Looking after it starts with a small habit: reading its care label before the first wash. Two garments that look similar can have different fabrics, finishes, or print methods, so one routine will not suit every piece.

Read the whole care label

Check the washing, bleaching, drying, and ironing instructions together. The American Cleaning Institute recommends following the garment's care instructions and the cleaning product's label. If the garment calls for professional cleaning, do not assume a home wash is an equivalent option.

Prepare before washing

Empty the pockets and check for marks that may need attention. Separate items according to their care requirements and colors. Follow any instructions to turn the garment inside out or close fasteners. Pay particular attention to attached patches, decorative hardware, embroidery, and printed panels.

Choose settings for the garment

Use the temperature and cycle permitted by the label, and measure detergent according to its directions and your load. Avoid treating a hotter wash or extra detergent as an automatic upgrade. If you no longer have a readable label, ask the brand for care guidance before guessing.

Dry and iron with the same care

Check whether the piece can go in a dryer, should hang, or needs to dry flat. Follow any restrictions on heat and ironing over printed areas. A print and the fabric beneath it may not tolerate the same treatment. Let the item finish drying before putting it away.

Build a routine you can repeat

Photograph the care label when you buy a garment so the instructions remain available if the label fades. Keep a short note for pieces with unusual requirements. If a print starts lifting or a seam opens, ask the maker about repair options before applying glue, heat, or another home fix.

The goal is simple: understand what your garment needs and make that routine easy to follow. Browse RAZ apparel, and contact us if you need help locating care information for a piece from our store.
